Cybersecurity is a crucial issue in Europe, ensuring the protection of digital infrastructures, sensitive data and technological sovereignty in the face of growing threats, while underpinning citizens' and businesses' confidence in Europe's digital economy.
IDETA has made accelerating the digital transition of Picardy Wallonia, its local authorities and its businesses one of its top priorities. This objective translates into support for local authorities in their digitisation efforts and the introduction of training courses for their staff, thanks in particular to the partnership established with the Eurometropolitan e-Campus, the collective higher education and training structure dedicated to digital fields.
On the crucial issue of digital security, IDETA and the Eurometropolitan e-Campus organises since June 2024 cybersecurity awareness sessions for local authority staff. There are over 4 sessions per month.
The aim is to :
- Popularise the subject of cybersecurity by showing that it is accessible to everyone
- To instil the right reflexes, both professional and personal
- Communicate that all cyber attacks are based on the exploitation of human behaviour.
The topics covered include a conference and practical workshops led by the REDSYSTEM professional hackers team :
- Attacks (phishing, ransomware, phone...)
- Passwords and authentication
- Social engineering and the use of social networks
- IT security in teleworking and public wifi
- Security of mobile devices
- Consequences of an incident
- Hacking

"Securing Cyber Futures" is an Info Day event organised in the framework of the REWIRE project (621701-EPP-1-2020-1-LT-EPPKA2-SSA-B), funded by the Erasmus+ programme, under the call Alliances for Sectoral Cooperation on Skills.
Moreover, the event is part of the Lifelong Learning Week 2023, organised by the Lifelong Learning Platform (LLLP).
The primary aim of the event is to investigate how stakeholders in the cybersecurity field can address the current obstacles, particularly concerning skill deficiencies, shortages, and disparities. It will place specific emphasis on the potential impact of Vocational Education and Training (VET) in addressing skill shortages and establishing pathways for individuals to join the cybersecurity workforce. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from successful educational initiatives implemented across Europe that are instrumental in narrowing the cybersecurity skills gap and disparities.
