The European Cyber Security Month represents a great opportunity to raise awareness towards the problems of computer security.
Italy strongly believes in that event, well coordinated by ENISA, and also this year we enthusiastically have accepted to contribute, by raising awareness and encouraging the involvement of national stakeholders, public and private, in the area of networks and information security.
The Higher Institute of Communications and Information Technologies – ISCTI – of the Ministry of Economic Development has been particularly active in promoting this initiative at public events on NIS security and meetings with public and private organizations.
The response has been very positive and it is witnessed by the large number of events that have been organized.
In particular, CLUSIT - Italian Association for Information Security - has organized, in collaboration with 20 Italian universities, about 30 events addressing issues such as employees training, security of mobile devices, computer programming, cyber security exercises, privacy.
Moreover, this year the ECSM falls during the Italian Presidency of the EU, and several initiatives, that have been organized as part of the semester, have found a greater echo because the concurrence with ECSM. I would like to point out the meeting titled "Road-Mapping Cybersecurity Research and Innovation" organized in Florence by the National Council for the Research – CNR - in the context of the Working Group 3 of the NIS Platform. Another event, titled "The Role of Cyber Defence to protect and sustain EU economy" was organized by the Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with, among others, the Ministry of Economic Development.
