The European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA), the European Commission DG CONNECT and Partners are officially launching the European Cyber Security Month (ECSM) on the 1st of October, 2014. ECSM is an EU advocacy campaign that promotes cyber security among citizens and advocates for change in the perception of cyber-threats by promoting data and information security, education, sharing of good practices and competitions.

This note is based on deliberations during the international conference on cyber capacity building hosted by the EU Institute for Security Studies (13-14 March 2014, Paris) that brought together policy makers and practitioners from various communities in order to share their experiences and discuss ways forward for cyber capacity building. Instead of traditional conference report, this note presents major take-away points. As such,this document aspires to be used as a reference and a quick introduction for anyone who is or wishes to get involved in debates about cyber capacity building. The 4th Edition of Infosec Week was held from 06th until 10th October 2014 at theNational Security Cabinet Office, Lisbon. The
ENISA's National Liaison Officers (NLOs) met on 17th February with ENISA experts, in Athens, in order to explore collaboration opportunities according to the Agency’s work programme.
ENISA Executive Director, Professor Udo Helmbrecht, took part on 11th of July in a special media briefing on the forthcoming European Cyber Security Month (ECSM). The event was organised in Vienna by Digital Austria - the coordination and strategy committee of the Federal Government for eGovernment in Austria. The briefings also covered security in Cloud computing.

Now in its 11th year, NCSAM is designed to engage and educate the public and private sector by holding events throughout the country and promoting various initiatives with the goal of raising awareness about cybersecurity in order to increase the resiliency of the nation in the event of a cyber incident.
