F-Secure Cyber Security Advisor Erka Koivunen and ENISA's Cosmin Ciobanu will answer questions about #CyberSecMonth, creating a culture of security, and what you, your boss, and your boss' boss need to know about being hacked.

October is #CyberSecMonth and it just happens to be happening before an election in America where "the Cyber" is playing an unprecedented role. The goal of the month is "raise awareness of cyber security threats, promote cyber security among citizens and provide up to date security information, through education and sharing of good practices." In other words, it's about not getting hacked. F-Secure Cyber Security Advisor Erka Koivunen will be joined by the European Union Agency for Network and Information Security's Cosmin Ciobanu for a Reddit "Ask me Anything" session to answer questions about #CyberSecMonth, creating a culture of security, and what you, your boss, and your boss' boss need to know about being hacked.

Cyber Security Base with F-Secure

Cyber Security Base with F-Secure is a course series by the University of Helsinki in collaboration with F Secure. Offered through the University of Helsinki’s MOOC, the course aims to get potential cyber security specialists into the workforce. Course participants will learn about cyber security legislation in the EU, tools used to analyze flaws in software systems, building secure software systems, and performing risk and threat assessments. Completion of the course will give participants the skills needed to work as junior cyber security consultants.

Cyber Security Base with F-Secure Kick-off

Welcome to the kick-off event for Cyber Security Base with F-Secure! Cyber Security Base with F-Secure is a course series by the University of Helsinki in collaboration with F‑Secure. It focuses on building core knowledge and abilities related to the work of a cyber security professional. Welcome to Cyber Security Base with F-Secure Corporation

Sasu Tarkoma is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Helsinki, and Head of the Department of Computer Science. His research interests include Internet technology, distributed systems, security and privacy, and mobile and ubiquitous computing. He has authored 4 textbooks and has published over 160 scientific articles. He has seven granted US Patents. His research has received several Best Paper awards and mentions, for example at IEEE PerCom, ACM CCR, and ACM OSR.

Mari Heusala, Executive Vice President of Human Resources at F-Secure. Mari has 20 years of international HR experience from IT sector. She worked 12 years at Nokia in various global HR roles and before joining F-Secure a year ago, she worked at Basware Corporation for 6 years heading the global Human Resources team.

“There’s Job Security in Cyber Security!” What skills would one need to land a job in cybersecurity?

Erka Koivunen, Cyber Security Advisor at F-Secure is a former head of the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) in Finland, and joined F-Secure in 2015 as a Cyber Security Advisor. Companies, governments, and a variety of other organizations consult with Erka extensively on everything from risk assessment to incident response, and he has testified as an expert witness for the EU, Finnish, and British Parliaments.

VALTTERI NIEMI:
Security perspectives for 5G networks

Valtteri Niemi is a Professor of Computer Science in University of Helsinki and leads the system security research group. Niemi has served for 15 years in various roles at Nokia Research Center and was nominated as a Nokia Fellow in 2009. Dr. Niemi worked at Nokia for wireless security, including cryptological aspects and privacy-enhancing technologies. He participated 3GPP SA3 (security) standardization group from its beginning and during 2003-2009 he was the chairman of the group.

ANTTI VÄHÄ-SIPILÄ:
The non-technical challenges of software security: Carrots, sticks and the talent pool

Antti Vähä-Sipilä, Principal Security Consultant at F-Secure's technical security consultancy team. He has been working with product and software security for more than a decade, from embedded devices to web apps. Currently his main interests are software security in modern software development and privacy engineering. For the past three years, Antti has taught a basic course in software security at Aalto University.

Massive Open Online Course

Arto Hellas, University Instructor, was elemental in the design and implementation of the first Finnish MOOCs that are used by the University of Helsinki for recruiting new students. His current research focuses on understanding and modeling learning from process data that accumulates from various learning environments. Before his current life at the University of Helsinki, he worked as a software developer and consultant for several software and hardware companies.
